For those of you in the Pacific Northwest who will be at Social Media for Nonprofits (#SM4NP) on Friday in Redmond, I have an idea…
The first session of the day (Online Video Done Right) is my quick lesson on how to produce video for your nonprofit using the tools and equipment most of us already have in our pockets – a smart phone. We’ll go over the basics on how to set up a shot, what constitutes proper lighting, how to be sure you’re getting good audio, what “b roll” is and why it’s important – Videography for YouTube 101. Armed with this information, there’s no reason why you couldn’t put the knowledge to use at the #SM4NP conference, right? So, why not start a video blog using the footage you shoot at #SM4NP?
Here’s what I’d like to see all the budding videographers in the audience do… Throughout the day, you’re going to meet a lot of interesting people doing great work. Instead of just having a conversation with them, bust out your smart phone or Flip cam and record a quick interview, using the techniques we’ll cover in the morning session. Then, upload the videos to your or your organization’s YouTube channel and share them with me. If we get enough content, I’d be happy to set up a blog that serves as a hub for this content and anything else we end up producing down the road. If you need any help with the uploading process, setting up a YouTube channel, or anything that might pop up as we build this blog, I’m happy to help, free of charge. Just drop me a line and let me know what you need. (contact info can be found here or send me a tweet @BWF_social)
I look forward to meeting you at the conference!
